The current Roadway Division single cell box culvert standard and this grated structure have always been constructed of 'Class A Concrete', but the new Bridge Division single cell reinforced concrete box standard uses 'Class AA Concrete', so the concrete used to construct the box culvert will dictate which type of concrete will be used to construct the end structure. If this end treatment structure is attached to a pipe culvert, then the 'Class A Concrete' pay item should be used. ****** Sheet No. R-74BE (ENGLISH) - Flexible Pipe Installation Old Revision Designation: FPI-2-01E New Revision Designation: FPI-2-02E Two larger sizes of polyethylene plastic pipe have been added by AASHTO, so the table in the lower left corner of the sheet has been modified to include the 54" and 60" diameters. Also, general note number 8 has been modified to more clearly describe the height of the flowable fill material when polyethylene pipe is used. The F shape wall design has been adopted by the ODOT Bridge and Roadway Divisions, so this barrier wall shape and detail has been revised to reflect the new shape. ****** Sheet No. R-138E (ENGLISH) - Guardrail Extruder Terminal Old Revision Designation: GET-2-00E New Revision Designation: GET-2-01E The availability of wooden guardrail posts and maintenance concerns have resulted in adopting a hinged type post system for the Guardrail Extruder Terminal. The revised standard now shows the typical hinged breakaway post and hardware required to construct the end treatment. For many years the 8 steel tube system has been the accepted ODOT standard, but now the hinged breakaway system has been used enough to establish a solid performance record consistent with the former 8 tube system. There is a cost savings with the hinged system and input from the ODOT field personnel verifies the hinged system is solid and relatively quick to repair.
