The City of Tulsa, the Tulsa Metro Chamber and the Oklahoma Department of Transportation welcomed Administrator Mendez to Tulsa to see the continued progress of the $75 million Inner Dispersal Loop (I-244) reconstruction project as it nears completion.

The first of nine new stations designed to help protect travellers and Oklahoma highways has the green light to begin construction. The Oklahoma Transportation Commission has awarded a $7.5 million contract to Duit Construction Co. and TTK Construction Co. to build the state-of-the-art facility on I-35 in Kay County, two miles south of the Oklahoma/Kansas state line.

Events were held Friday in Oklahoma City and Tulsa to kick off National Work Zone Awareness Week, April 19-23. This year’s theme, “Work Zones Need Your Undivided Attention,” emphasizes the need for increased attention in work zones and to avoid distractions while driving.
