I-40 Bridge Hit Update for June 8 

* Crews finished removing the concrete on the westbound bridge( Span 4 ) 
and the reinforcing steel in the deck. That’s only half of the whole span
resting on the barges. 

* Crews started removing the structural steel (steel underneath the deck) 
and anticipate finishing that process Sunday morning. Once that is complete, 
crews will begin removing the concrete deck on the eastbound other half 
eastbound (Span 4).

* To maintain the traffic flow and assure driver safety, ODOT is keeping a 
close eye on the detour routes. There has been a change in detour information 
for truck traffic. Until further notice, all truck traffic on eastbound I-40 
should travel SH-9 through Spiro on through to Ft. Smith, Arkansas.

Editor’s Note: Reminder for media that is meeting ODOT at the bridge early 
Monday morning for the press conference: you are to drive your own vehicles 
past the initial guarded barricade at I-40 / SH-100 and ODOT Public Affairs
will meet you at the second guarded barricade.
