PUBLIC INVOLVEMENT MEETING
I-235/Harrison Avenue Improvements in Oklahoma County, OK

     The Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT), in cooperation with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) proposes to improve the Interstate 235 (I-235)/Harrison Avenue northbound off ramp in the City of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma County. The proposed improvements include the correction of geometric deficiencies in the existing ramp configuration of the Harrison Avenue exit ramp and access to Walnut Avenue. The purpose of the project is to correct the sharp horizontal curve on the ramp and provide direct connection to NE 10th Street off Northbound I-235.

     On October 19, 2010, a public meeting was held to present a recommended improvement to the I-235 / Harrison Avenue northbound off ramp that included a direct ramp to 10th Street and eliminated the existing loop ramp to Harrison Avenue. This improvement also included the construction of Central Avenue from 10th Street south to Harrison Avenue. Since then, Oklahoma City was presented with an opportunity to partner with a proposed new technology center located in the southeast corner of I-235 and 10th Street. As a result, the proposed configuration was re-evaluated to accommodate this proposed development. As part of our efforts to keep the public informed of this project and involved in the decision process, ODOT has scheduled a public meeting to present the revised configuration and request public input.
