Bridge Information: The Dry Creek Bridge, located in Creek County approximately 1.0 miles south and 2.0 miles east of Oilton, was built in 1910. The bridge was constructed by the Missouri Valley Bridge and Iron Company, Leavenworth Kansas. The half-hip pony truss is a popular sub-type of the Pratt, in which the hip vertical is eliminated and the inclined end post is made more perpendicular to the upper and lower chords, thus requiring less metal. It was limited to lengths of no more than about 60 feet, however. This type was used extensively by county road departments throughout the country for small stream crossings.
