The Oklahoma Department of Transportation, Roadway Design Squad has had an office at Oklahoma State University since 1970. Over the years, approximately 200 students have been employed at the OSU/Roadway Design Squad.
Students develop roadway plans using engineering practices and MicroStation. Each student is assigned a roadway project and is responsible for the design and information put on the plans. Additionally, students are responsible for calculating hydraulics, laying out horizontal and vertical alignments, calculating quantities, and preparing plans for Plan-in-Hand, Right-of Way Submission, and Final Submission.
Positions in this program are designed to lead to full-time employment with ODOT following graduation.
