The Oklahoma Department of Transportation, Roadway Design Team has had an office at Oklahoma State University since 1970. Over the years, approximately 200 students have been employed at the OSU/Roadway Design Team. In this position, students develop proposed roadway plans using engineering practices along with MicroStation, a Computer Aided Drafting and Design software (CADD). Following guidelines set by the ODOT, students will learn the process of preparing a set of roadway plans. Each student is assigned a roadway project and is responsible for the design and information put on the plans. Additionally, students are responsible for calculating hydraulics, laying out horizontal and vertical alignments, calculating quantities, and preparing plans for Plan-in-Hand, Right-of-Way Submission, and Final Submission.
